Solitaire Diamond In A Tension Setting

This is a beautiful solitaire diamond in a tension setting. If your looking for a ring setting to really make a diamond stand out, then a tension setting is the one for you. Most traditional rings utilise prongs or metal baskets to secure a centre stone in place. That isn’t the case with tension set rings. Instead of using additional metal prongs, the ring itself is the mechanism that locks the diamond in place. Not too dissimilar from a mechanical ‘clamp’. The pressure from the outside forces keeps the diamond in place. This allows for a ‘floating effect’ where the diamond itself appears to levitate within the ring. Out of all the settings, this one lets in the most light, and will make for an excellent talking piece!

The drawbacks to these rings are that they will be a lot harder, though not impossible, to resize. This is because they are crafted and calibrated to exact measurements based on the size of the centre stone. Another drawback is that even though tension set rings are relatively safe and the feature stones don’t fall out often, they can easily be removed intentionally without using any special tools. If you’re concerned or want to find out more on tension style rings, don’t hesitate to get in touch. We have helpful and knowledgeable staff that will be happy to answer any enquiries you may have. We also offer a bespoke jewellery design service, if you like this design, you can reference this and we can craft one in our on-site workshops.

Whilst this solitaire diamond in a tension setting is a great way to utilise this design, there are many other ways tension styles can be incorporated. Take a look at one of our other tension styles here.
